About a great Gongfu Master Master Samuel Kwok was born in Hong
Kong, the son of a church minister. He began training in the White
Crane style of Gongfu at the age of 12. Five years later, in London's
Chinatown, he was introduced to Yongchunquan/Wing Chun Gongfu. His teacher,
the late Master Lee Hsing, saw his early potential and introduced
him to Master Yip Chun who took over his training.
Sam trained for many years under
Dashi Yip Chun and attained the level of master in his own right.
He opened his first school in Hong Kong, and within a few years,
his students began making a name for themselves at tournaments and
demonstrations in the colony.
When Samuel returned to the United
Kingdom, Yip Chun appointed him chairman and senior overseas representative
of the 'Yip Chun Martial Art Association' (YCMAA). Having settled
in England, Sam started to teach Yongchunquan/Wing Chun Chuan privately, but later
was asked to open a school. By now, the 'Samuel Kwok Martial Art
Association' (SKMAA) has grown to be one of the largest Gongfu
organizations in the country. Sam also teaches students and holds
seminars in the USA, South Africa and Europe. His students include
famous people such as TV stars like Bobby Davro.
Over the years, many of Master Kwok's
students have opened schools themselves, but Sam has always remained
faithful to true Yongchunquan/Wing Chun Chuan tradition and still teaches classes
personally. In 1994 he returned to Hong Kong to study with Master
Yip Ching, the younger son of Yip Man, and he regularly invites
senior Yongchunquan/Wing Chun Chuan masters to conduct seminars in England. Samuel
Kwok is the worldwide representative and senior instructor for the
two sons of the late Grandmaster Yip Man.
Students of Master Samuel Kwok's receive
the undiluted teachings of the Yongchunquan/Wing Chun Chuan system. Like Bruce Lee
before them, they learn the original Yongchunquan/Wing Chun Chuan.
